FAQs

Do Parents participate in their child’s therapy?

Yes! Depending on the age and situation, parent involvement may look different. We recognize parents play the most important role in their child’s life and so we utilize parent sessions, frequent parent updates, and joint sessions when clinically appropriate.

How do I know if therapy is right for me or my child?

Therapy can be helpful for anyone experiencing emotional distress, behavioral challenges, life transitions, or relationship struggles. If you’re unsure, we offer consultations to discuss your needs and how we can help.

How long are therapy sessions? How Many Sessions will I, or my child, need?

Ongoing weekly sessions typically run 53 to 60 minutes. The number of sessions will vary depending on the need of client. This is something you can discuss with your therapist at the intake or goal setting session.

Do you submit insurance claims for out of network providers?

We only file insurance claims for the clients that are covered by our in-network providers (Aetna, BCBS, UHC). If you are out of network, we will provide you the necessary documentation for you to submit for reimbursement with your provider. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to understand your mental health benefits and possible reimbursement rates. If requested, we will provide superbills after each appointment that you will be able to get access from the patient portal.

Please note that payment is due in full at each appointment.

Why Choose Private Pay for Therapy?

Some clients choose to pay privately for therapy rather than using insurance. Private pay offers greater privacy, flexibility, and control over your mental health care. Insurance companies often require a diagnosis, limit the number of covered sessions, or dictate treatment approaches. By opting out of insurance, your therapy remains entirely confidential between you and your provider, and we can focus on what best supports your well-being without restrictions.

How long will the wait be for an after school/work appointment?

While we are not able to give you a timeframe, we can work with you as much as possible to find a spot that is least disruptive to the school/work day while you are on the after school/work waiting list. We recommend looking at lunch time, beginning or ending of the school/work day, or recess and/or elective times. Some parents find success with speaking with their child’s teacher to find times during the school day that will work with their class schedule.

How Do I Get Started?

Email, call, or click on “Schedule Now” at the top of the page. We will provide you with the necessary forms to open a new client file and set up an intake session.

We ask for all forms to be submitted 2 business days before the first visit in order for us to verify insurance benefits and have time to review the files.

Please note: For any client younger than 14, a separate parent-only intake session is required.

Do you offer in-person or telehealth sessions?

We offer both! You may choose in-person sessions at our office or secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth appointments. Some clients choose to do a combination. Most kid sessions are in person and most parent sessions are virtual to accommodate schedules. We’re happy to talk through what might work best for you.
